NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Recent polls have largely pointed to a close three-way race between the Conservatives, Liberals and NDP, but the sitting prime minister isn’t so sure.
The Conservative leader made a campaign stop in North Vancouver today. Stephen Harper doesn’t buy the idea that it’s anybody’s game.
“I’m not a campaign analyst. I don’t necessarily accept that view. My view is that the choice in this election is clear. I don’t think Canadians want tax increases. I don’t think they want a return to deficits.”
He points to voter perceptions of his job on the economy. “I think they understand that this country has done well through a series of ups and downs in the global economy through a long-term plan that cuts taxes and balances budgets. I think that’s the directions Canadians are going to want to continue.”
Harper suggests that when Canadians reflect on his government’s handling of an up-and-down global economy in recent years, it will be his party they choose.
